Fort Collins Youth Rugby Boys (FCYR) lost there first league match against Boulder in what was considered a poorly officiated match 19-15. The match pitted Boulder using its forwards to move down the pitch against Fort Collins using their backs to counter. Fort Collins attacked right from the kickoff and kept Boulder at bay, in the 10-minute mark of the match Boulder tried a clearing kick that was caught by Ethan Middleton and with a great kick return that broke several tackles, Fort Collins was on the board 7-0 with the converted conversion by Ethan. Boulder struck back with their forwards in the
18-minute breaking several tackles by their prop to tie the match 7-7. After moving back and forth down the pitch, Adam Gutierrez stole a lineout at the 5-metre line of Boulder and drove in for the try and a 14-7 lead with the conversion by Ethan where it would end at half.
Second half saw a change in the match with many questionable calls by the referee that would lead to Boulder scoring 14 minutes into the match and knotting the score at 14-14. Fort Collins didn’t let up and after driving deep into Boulder territory and threatening to score, once again questionable penalties would again haunt Fort Collins and Boulder was able to use these to move down the pitch and score with 4-minutes to go to take the lead 19-15, which would be the final. Man of the match was Ethan Middleton with his great runs against Boulder and his kicking for touch.
In the B-side match Fort Collins came out and took it to Boulder with David Ramirez running through the Boulder defense for a try and on the final play of the match Mark Rosenhagen made the corner for a final of 10-0. Man of the match was Alex Yasumura for his great rucking and poaching of the ball.
