On Saturday, March 8 Fort Collins Youth Rugby Boys took on Glendale rugby in a league match in the new Glendale Stadium before a near sell out crowd and came away with the victory 17-5 to even their league record at 1-1.
Match started with great defense by Fort Collins keeping Glendale pinned deep in their end of the pitch and when Glendale tried to move the ball out from behind their own try line and made an error Todd Oswald fell on the ball to give Fort Collins the first points of the match at the 8:00 minute mark and with Ethan Middleton conversion they were up 7-0. Match moved back and forth down the pitch until around the 25:00 minute mark when a good drive by the forwards resulted in Alex Godin scoring the try and with Ethan’s conversion Fort Collins was up 14-0. In the final minute of play in the first half a penalty by Glendale resulted in a penalty kick by Ethan that put Fort Collins up at halftime 17-0.
Second half saw Fort Collins keep on the pressure but due to some missed opportunities the score remained 17-0 for most of the match until Glendale was able to get the ball outside and score at the 27:00 minute of the mark to make the score 17-5. The rest of the match saw a lot of pressure on defense by Fort Collins that would result in turnovers by Glendale but Fort Collins was unable to capitalize on them and the final score was 17-5.
